Medical
care is just important for your pet as it is for you. Finding the right
veterinarian can be difficult is some areas. The first criteria you
may want to consider is what level of experience your veterinarian has
working with cats. I also look for a veterinarian that listens to me.
I'm the person that knows the cat better than anyone else. My observations
are an important part of any diagnosis and the veterinarian doesn't
listen to me that's a major concern.
Some
veterinarians use Ketamine when anesthesia is required. It's a very
harsh treatment that can leave the cat out of sorts for days after even
simple procedures like spaying or neutering. If your vet doesn't use
Isoflourine for anesthesia you may want to find another vet as many
Bengals have had bad reactions to Ketamine.
Bengals
have certain unique needs that not all veterinarians may be aware of.
If you have a veterinarian that's used to working with Bengals hang
on to him or her. Their past experiences with different unique Bengal
medical situations can be invaluable.
In
addition to professional medical care I also believe in the value of
homeopathy for day to day care. There are a number of valuable homeopathic
references available, some just for cats.
One
of the simplest things I have found most useful is Acidophilus bacteria.
It can help with a variety of digestive problems including diarrhea
by replacing the body's natural intestinal flora. This and other things
can be found in a good homeopathic reference.
Medical
Conditions found in the Bengal Breed
Bengals
are affected by a number of the same issues in other domestic breeds.
There are some excellent recourses on the Internet addressing these
issues.

HCM
(Hypertrophic CardioMyopathy) has recently become of great concern amoung
Bengal breeders and owners. There are many opinions on the subject.
My suggestion is do your own research and form your own opinions based
on infromation.
